The stewardship of planet Earth and the fate of humanity will soon be in the hands of today’s youth. Climate change, water scarcity, poverty and conflicts over natural resources are just a few of the global challenges we face. The need for comprehensive and trustworthy education addressing sustainability issues is huge and continuously growing.
The Young Masters Programme on Sustainable Development (YMP) offers a unique learning experience through a global web-based education network. It connects youth from around the world, while building understanding and cooperation about sustainability issues. YMP is open to 16-18 year old students and free to all schools. Teachers must register along with students.
The programme has been developed by the International Institute for Industrial Environmental Economics (IIIEE) at Lund University, Sweden.
The pedagogy is built on an exploratory, peer-to-peer method for learning, where off-line studies of real-life facts alternate with on-line study, discussion and interaction in international virtual classrooms.
